This region of Makarska Riviera is featuring several interesting tourist hotspots and one of them that is definitely worth visiting is Podgora. Even though it is believed that Podgora has existed for several hundred years, the first written source that confirms the existence of Podgora dates back to the middle of the 19th century. Back then, Podgora was a small fishing village and one of the stops for traders that were conducting business in the Adriatic Sea. The reason why Podgora was mentioned is the fact that this is the place where Don Mihovil Pavlinovic was born. He was a famous Croatian politician, priest, and writer.
It is interesting that organized tourism in Podgora started in 1922 making it one of the first places of this kind in Croatia. This was the year when the first hotel in Podgora was built. During the Second World War, Podgora was an important place for the partisans who fought the oppressors. This is where the Partisan Navy was formed. Today, Podgora is almost completely committed to tourism. It has about 3,000 residents that are known for their hospitality.

This is one of the most attractive and most visited nudist-friendly beaches in Makarska Riviera. It is situated between Tučepi and Podgora. Obviously, if you are planning on visiting a beach with your kids, you should avoid Dračevac Beach. It is located in an area that is not inhabited, so you may have to bring some basic items with you. Another great thing about this beach is that it is less crowded. There are a few beach bars in this area.

Although this beach can get quite crowded during holidays and certain periods of the summer, there is enough room for everyone to enjoy beach activities. While we are talking about activities, don’t forget that you can get involved in parasailing, jet skiing and use pedal boats to explore this area. There are numerous beach bars and restaurants on this beach.
